Fun Family Activity: Ice Cube Shuffle

In our quest to create unforgettable family activities and memories, we've discovered a new game that’s as cool as ice (literally!). It’s simple to set up, and requires minimal materials. Welcome to our Ice Cube Shuffle, a game where the aim is to slide an ice cube across the counter to score points.

Setting Up the Game

This game is easy to prepare and play. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Gather Supplies:

  2. Ice cubes (one for each player)

  3. Painter’s tape or masking tape

  4. A smooth counter surface

  5. A marker

  6. Prepare the Counter:

  7. Choose a long, smooth counter or table as your sliding surface.

  8. Using the tape, create several zones on the counter, each worth a different amount of points. For example:

  9. Zone 1 (closest) = 10 points

  10. Zone 2 (middle) = 20 points

  11. Zone 3 (farthest) = 30 points

  12. Clearly mark the start line at one end of the counter where players will launch their ice cubes.

Rules of the Game

The rules are straightforward, so if you don't know how to play, not sure what we can do to explain it any more clear:

  1. Starting Position: Each player starts behind the start line with an ice cube.

  2. Slide the Ice Cube: On their turn, each player slides their ice cube across the counter, aiming to land it in the highest scoring zone.

  3. Scoring: The point value of the zone where the ice cube stops is added to the player’s total score.

  4. Winning the Game: After a set number of rounds (we usually do five), the player with the highest score wins.

We had a blast with this one, and hope that you and your family does too. Feel free to add new rules to make the game tailored to how you like to play.
